Images from the park show groups of young people carrying colourful water guns and having fun soaking each other in the 40C heat, according to Radio Free Europe.
But when images of the event were posted online they upset the nation’s conservatives. One conservative MP said the event was shameful and could spread “corruption”.
Shortly later, the city’s police chief Hossein Sajedina said some of those involved had been arrested.
He said participants of the water fight had been acting “abnormally” and were disobeying Islamic principles.
Those wacky Iranians, eh..?
Luckily, we’re a civilised country. Nothing like them at all.

The old man, BBHN, said in his book, “There is no humour in Islam.”
FuMus, eh? take them or leave them, you can’t help but hate them.
I didn’t realise that Radio Free Europe & Radio Liberty were still going! I remember them from my Short Wave listening days back in the 80′s. At the the time they were both an arm of the US government and broadcast to the (former) Iron Curtain countries. There was an excellent rock music show on Sundays, since that sort of music was frowned on by the authorities, and wasn’t easy for people to hear. I still have a QSL reception verification card on my wall. It seems it’s internet based now – all well and good until the ‘net gets shut down, perhaps then they will need those old transmitters again…
I’d have thought they’d been overtaken by web-based broadcasts too!
