On two issues – the EU and the Lords, the true conservatives [small c] have shown their numbers – around 100, perhaps a bit more.
Notice Mensch and Smith are not in there. Carswell’s not there. So, the first move is for the rebels to put an ultimatum to Cameron that unless he pursues conservative policies, they will sit on the cross benches as the Conservative Party [UK] or some such. If it does come to it, they can always unsit there again once Cameron backs down.
He needs to be unrelentingly pressured to conform to the country’s interest and they are in the box seat to do it. Every new move which strengthens the EU or acts to dismember the Lords is to be opposed. The 1922 is now irrelevant and this would be the new group. Outside of Westminster, UKIP could well either join some sort of confederation or re-form as part of a new party – it needn’t be called Conservative.
Nation United would probably do it as a name. It doesn’t need to mention a party, for those who oppose parties, it could include English and British, it sounds respectable and dull enough for the average vote. It would get around curly questions by giving conscience votes and stick to a minimal platform with the usual goodies – lower taxes, revitalized small and medium businesses, jobs, restocking of the armed forces etc.
Nothing too radical – just a return to our roots. Newcomers to the country are welcome to either join in or say goodbye.
At some point, despite what the Tories think of UKIP, the two forces need to combine – they are both for a revitalized nation with businesses, jobs and self-determination. There’d be many people out there who’d support the message. I’d say they might get 30-35% of the vote first up, remembering there are many quislings out there who don’t support our nation.

This is rubbish.
Nothing to do with real Libertarianism, as shown by your call for “true conservatives” ….
This is about the House of Commons keeping it’s bloated and corrupt power to itself, & not allowing a scond chamber to exercise some measure of guidance & control.
I can hear the scream of entrenched vested interests only too clearly!
Dear Greg, how are lists of MPs rubbish?
Oh my goodness, my sainted aunt, hold me upright – something I can agree with Greg about. I need a whisky but probably a coffee will do as the thing’s bubbling nicely.
Greg, are you off on holiday by any chance?
this an EU directive (9) regions of England to have voter chosen representatives in a second chamber
