How helpful of the Defence Minister to use the ubiquitous word ‘debacle’ in his Commons speech, thus providing ready-made copy for the media of our French, Spanish and German-speaking neighbours.
In an ideal world, perhaps he might have added ‘sfacelo’ and ‘rozgromienie’ for the Italians and Poles and, of course, ‘πανωλεθρία’ for the Greeks (who, at least, should be getting a few much-needed laughs out of the whole business).
