Det Con Rachel Jackson said officers were treating the man’s death as unexplained.
Really?
He took an angle grinder to an oil drum full of fumes. Entirely expected, I’d have thought. One for the Darwin awards.

I think ‘unexplained’ is just police shorthand for ‘We need to make sure none of his pals has staged a little ‘accident’ here’…
It would appear that he managed it all by himself,
Perhaps, they need someone to explain it to them?
Slowly and clearly, or a tweet or two might work better.
I remember a similar thing happening when I was much younger. An agricultural worker was trying to remove the cover on a 10,000 gallon tank of dilute sulphuric acid – this was used to spray potatoes to stop blight. I can’t remember exactly what method he employed, but he discovered that acid in contact with galvanised steel produces hydrogen. I don’t think they ever found his body…
An interesting chemistry lesson, though. Shame it was terminal
Locally, we had a man and his friend check the level of a fuel oil tank with a match.
Except it takes such a long time for Darwin to get around to them all.
I think they go to him…
Clearly bunking off school on the day when Fire & Rescue explained that an empty fuel tank is far more dangerous than a full one.
