Birth of iDemocracy

Back in June, readers of the Guido Fawkes blog voted to decide which Bill I should present to Parliament.  Although our Bill was unsuccessful, the initiative showed that it is possible for the priorities of those in SW1 to be determined more directly by the people they claim to represent.

I am writing to you now because this week I have a book out – The End of Politics and the Birth of iDemocracy - which I think you might be interested in.

For years, an incompetent, parasitical elite has presided over us.  Throughout the West, officialdom has lived beyond the means of the rest of us to pay for it.  As a result, we are mired in debt and chronically misgoverned.

Should we despair?  Actually, no.

The Big Government model is bust – so we are going to have to manage without.  The digital revolution, I show, makes this not only possible but perhaps inevitable.

Be happy.  The future will be bad news for politicians and for parasites.  But good news for everyone else.

Of course, I haven’t read his book yet, but I am sceptical already.

As far as I can see, the digital revolution actually makes Big Government more pervasive, more efficient, and therefore worse.

The fact that we COULD manage it without it doesn’t mean that the Political class are just going to wither away.

Somehow it just never happens like that, does it?

    “over us.”

No Douglas, not over you – you are part of “The Big Government”, one of the “incompetent, parasitical elite”.

How true, and like the proverbial turkey not voting for Christmas if given the chance, the benefit culture – which includes politicians* – will not vote for austerity.

      * Think about it – they get very well paid and the allowances are eye watering, all from the tax payer and in most cases they do less than those that receive direct benefits.
