Are you giving up anything for Lent?

LentI hadn’t noticed either until last evening when a lady gave me some spicy pancakes and that’s when it hit – it was Shrove Tuesday. May I point out that this lady is a Muslim, so what does that say?

Today is Ash Wednesday, first day of Lent. Will you be giving anything up for Lent?

………..

Disclaimer: This post declares that it is not proselytizing in any way, shape or form. You believe what you wish but all the same – this is a traditional British commemoration and thus deserves to be posted on.

    Bloody GROW UP!
What has ANY of this religious shit got to do with freedom?
    NOTHING
“Lent” was a practical recognition of the “hungry gap” in crops & food-supply, bolstered by religious practice as a survival mechamism, when our agriculture was crap.
    No longer applies.

Already have. I lent some bastard a book, and he has buggered off to Hong Kong to work. Chances of ever seeing said book again…. NIL!
