You can fool all the people…..

………..some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time………….Abe Lincoln.

Looks like Old Abe was wrong, but hey; they probably class the former President as a current occupant of the Great Satan’s leadership anyway! But I bet the Economist wishes it hadn’t run that particular piece, with that particular headline, in this particular week!

Footnote.

As Saudi’s take from all the oil they pump grows steadily smaller, it seems as though cash from all the Hajj pilgrims turns out to be a nice little earner. As all devout Muslims are supposed to make the pilgrimage at least once, and the sale of visas, travel documents, and the accomodating of over two-odd million true believers, (or as I prefer to call them, ‘the really thick’); the ongoing cash, which must run in to billions, comes in really handy when times are hard.

I did hear that all was calm until someone mentioned there was a spare place on an inflatable going to Kos.

From my experience of the Hajj-types, it would only take a whisper of “Free Food” or “All-You-Can-Eat-Buffet” to guarantee a violent stampede, especially in a culture which doesn’t recognise the honourable Titanic principle of ‘women & children first’.

However, giving Mohammed credit for some foresight, maybe he knew they’d end up breeding like rampant rabbits, so he’d need a regular method of population control to thin them out a bit, hence the compulsion for the muddled masses to mosey on down to Mecca at the same time each year, ensuring elimination of the weakest by infection, epidemic, stampede, dodgy goat-biryani etc.

And if the Saudis really wanted to optimise the return on their investment and improve cash-flow patterns, they’d find some suggestible scholar to issue a new Koranic interpretation that the Hajj can be undertaken at every new moon, thus delivering a return 13 times a year, rather than just once. Watch this space – if they do it, remember where you heard it first.

“Yet it is far easier—and safer—than it used to be. The Saudis take their “custodianship” of holy places very seriously.”

The Economist, always on the money.

And the KSA, always and ever willing to speed “all pilgrims” on their way to God, in the Arabian peninsula; in Yemen, Iraq, Jordan and then Syria, Libya, and wanton duplicity and interference allocating arms/fighters into lots of other regions and funding all sorts of mendacity across Europe and in Britain besides and……. what they’d like to do to Iran is even beyond mentionable.

Furthermore, why-oh-why do Camoron-Obummer+Angie et al….. call al-Assad a terrorist and name him as public enemy No 1, yet praise the real bastards ie the House of Saud – ‘our friends and allies’?

    WTF?

He may have been right at the time … but not now.
