Donald Trump is the winner of Arizona’s Republican presidential primary contest, but the Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) team is campaigning hard in that state — and others — to convince delegates to support him if the Republican National Convention moves beyond a first ballot.
Trump won easily in Arizona, 47 per cent over Cruz’s 25 per cent. He won all of the state’s 58 delegates in that contest. However those 58 are only bound to Trump on a first ballot at the RNC.
Republican strategist Sean Noble told the Washington Examiner that Trump is not organized in Arizona, and that on a second ballot Cruz would win all or most of the state’s delegates.
Cruz Arizona organizer Constantine Querard painted a somewhat less idealistic, but still optimistic plan to pull in delegate candidates that have supported presidential candidates such as Ohio Gov. John Kasich or former candidate Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 78% and oppose Trump.
Slimy bastard. Having said that, the process of selecting a president has been turned into a game for two nominal parties, both equally corrupt, unprincipled and resorting to all sorts of dirty tactics to win which, having achieved that or not, is of no consequence as they’re both part of the same club.
With Bush and Kerry, that was literally true – the Skull & Bones.
The donald’s not organized? Probably. A bit naive thinking that winning something on a ballot is the end of it? Probably. An amateur at dirty tricks? Not in business and yet somehow, he brings the mindset in that once having secured the contract on the dotted line, then the other is now committed.
With GOP snakes, that’s clearly not the end. People like this Sean Noble say that’s realpolitik, that’s how the GOP works – Trump needs to send people back into those states to chat up delegates. Hang on – yes, in terms of the rules the GOP follows, it is so but why are those rules there? This is not how some company is run – this is the leader of the nation having to play by these rules. Who put those rules in there and why?
We know why – to ensure an establishment candidate who is false, one who will do the will of the PTB. We can cry out that it’s all wrong but these weasels control things. And Cruz is a weasel.
Laze and Gem, it sickens me and I know it sickens you. It stinks. However, here is a lady who purports – she may be, maybe not] a delegate in Arizona:
This is exactly why my husband and I went to our district meeting in Tucson last weekend. We were very lucky to be chosen as delegates to the AZ state convention on April 30th. We are going there ONLY to safeguard the WILL of the people who voted for Trump! We will never vote for anyone like LYIN’ Ted to steal this from Trump in July at the National Convention! NEVER!!!! No flipping on the 2nd, 3rd ballots!
Meanwhile, this one has always struck me as the dark horse – there was an episode of Yes Minister which illustrated it well:
Politico’s Mike Allen suggested that the Wisconsin Speaker is still playing along with the suggestion being leaked by establishment Republicans.
Ryan, who’s more calculating and ambitious than he lets on, is running the same playbook he did to become Speaker: saying he doesn’t want it, that it won’t happen. In both cases, the maximum leverage is to NOT WANT IT – and to be begged to do it. He and his staff are trying to be as Shermanesque as it gets.
