There are serious issues in this area right now and each person must find his or her solution, plus there MUST be a national discussion on it:
Think we need to open this national debate on concealed carry:
At home is a different matter in the UK – you should have, in every room, something which is NOT a weapon in Plod’s eyes but which you could employ as one very quickly and which would incapacitate, even if just your phone to fling or your Raid flyspray – the issue is not at home, you can defend that fairly easily.
The issue is out of the home. for a start, perhaps young women themselves might be allowed conceal carry but I know the issues arising from that. The big thing for women is to have something which would incapacitate out of arm reach of the assailant because once he’s upon her, it’s usually end game. As for the men, it’s mainly gang assault to worry about.
For all indigenous, one needs to do other things, such as not going to populated areas where there is a chance of certain groups with known violent proclivities being anywhere near – this includes nightclubs and the dregs who hang around them.
In Russia, one learnt to “run along rails”, well worn, lit and frequented routes with many people and to only use those within certain hours. Sad, regrettable but necessary. It’s now become like that in the UK with the authorities’ refusal to deal with the threat.
